COMBATIVE RESILIENCE PROGRAM FROM OAK GROVE AND JOSH KOSHCHECK

Monday, January 11th, 2016

Raleigh, NC – Oak Grove has partnered with MMA fighter Josh Koshcheck’s Check Defense, LLC to develop a one-day Combatives Resilience Program for law enforcement professionals, to be taught by Josh at the Oak Grove training center on February 8, 2016.

Josh Koshcheck, an active UFC Fighter since 2004 — and ranked fifth all-time on the UFC fights list, has over a decade of experience training Law Enforcement, and is one of the best in the world when it comes to teaching Mixed Martial Arts. His Check Defense LLC is the premier services provider of training, cross-cultural communications, learning solutions, IT, strategic communications and Intelligence services to federal and commercial entities.

The Combatives Resilience Program (CRP) from Check Defense focuses on the development of a trainee’s ability to use different levels of controlled force during dangerous scenarios.

Using controlled proficiency in hand-to-hand combat allows the trainee to de-escalate a situation to lower the scope of danger to themselves and their team. This includes empty hand, primary, secondary and tertiary weapon systems.

Topics covered include:

  • Basic Principles of Check Defense Combatives Resilience Program (CRP)
  • Mental Development for Combatives
  • Situational Awareness
  • Physical Development of Combatives
  • Avoiding Injury

Officers will learn how to gain control and de-escalate a situation in a safe, controlled environment. The system teaches the officer to re-direct a non-compliant suspect’s resistance or aggression against himself/herself through position of advantage. Which will assist the officer in performing arrest and restraint, and increase the margin of safety for both the officer and suspect.

True-to-life role-playing exercises let participants eliminate much of the fear and anger associated with what could happen, what is happening, and what just happened. With an increased level of situational awareness, officers will have the mental preparedness and ability they need to formulate an appropriate reaction in dangerous situations.
