BOARD GREEN LIGHTS PLAN TO BUILD SCHOOL

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Richmond County, NC – The Land Use Advisory Commission approved a permit allowing Oak Grove to build a military vocational school near Camp Mackall.

Oak Grove will construct a stick-built village to simulate a foreign cultural environment. The school, within 5-miles of Ft. Bragg military installation, will be used mostly for cultural training and language instruction.

Oak Grove President of Defense and Global Security, Jack Zeigler said, “We are thrilled to continue to support the Special Forces.”

David LaFountain, Project Manager, said, “This location is ideal because of the nearby airstrip. We can land troops at Camp Mackall and cross the road to the village. There is also a house on the property that we will improve on and use as sort of an embassy.”

While deployed, Special Forces must interact, settle disputes and negotiate with members of foreign cultures in their native languages. The school focuses on foreign language instruction and implementation through role-playing. The structures planned for construction on the property are environmentally friendly, with no electricity or running water. Portable toilets would be made available for students and staff.

Oak Grove has conducted training on Camp Mackall and Ft. Bragg in which Special Forces receive the final stages of their training before heading overseas. Oak Grove proudly continues to support the high demand for training Army and Special Forces.
