PRESIDENT AND CEO OF OAK GROVE TECHNOLOGIES TESTIFIES ON CAPITOL HILL

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Washington, DC – Oak Grove Technologies was represented on Capitol Hill last week. On April 23, 2009, the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs conducted a hearing on Contracts and Contracting Policy at the VA. The purpose of the hearing was to gauge how the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awards contracts. More specifically, do veteran-owned businesses or non veteran-owned businesses enjoy greater success, and why?

President and CEO of Oak Grove Technologies, Mark Gross, was one of eleven panelists. “As an entrepreneur and veteran, the climate certainly has gotten better over the past seven years, but we still have a long way to go,” said Gross. “I’m confident that Congress and many of the Federal Agencies such as Department of the Army, and the Department of Veterans Affairs are committed to this cause.”

Participants discussed how sole sourcing and contract bundling are affecting veteran-owned small businesses and which types of businesses are receiving the majority of the contracts. Many ideas and suggestions were discussed regarding the improvement of the VA contracting process and the continuation of assistance for growing veteran businesses.
