OAK GROVE FINDS A PULSE AT HEALTH 2.0
Thursday, October 21st, 2010
San Francisco – Denise Lawson (Senior VP, Strategy) and Susan Stiles (VP, Marketing) of Oak Grove Technologies attended the Health 2.0 Conference. Held October 6-8, 2010, this conference showcased web-based and mobile technologies transforming the healthcare system.
Major themes at the conference were patient empowerment and patient-centered care. Oak Grove has a particular interest in both areas. Our work with the Department of Veterans Affairs has focused largely on improving the clinician/patient experience. For example, our course on clinician-patient communication was designed to lead to both better communication and shared decision making in the treatment process. As a training organization, we are also engaged in the effort to increase health literacy. At the conference, we had the opportunity to show our “In Sue Lin’s World” game prototype to several potential partners. This game is designed to provide a comfortable learning environment for a child who has been diagnosed with diabetes.
As a follow on to the conference, Oak Grove will be partnering with ModoLabs to enter the Health 2.0 Developer’s Challenge: “Consumer Apps to Visualize Health Care Quality Measures.” Our mobile application prototype will allow users to compare multiple dialysis facilities based on location and government quality measures. In addition, we’ll incorporate user-generated content and real-time transportation data into the app.
