Training VA Clinicians on Fluoroscopy Safety

Alexandria, VA - Oak Grove is currently working with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to build a web-based course on fluoroscopy safety for VA clinicians.  

Fluoroscopy is an integral part of VA’s comprehensive healthcare services.  Fluoroscopically guided interventions allow clinicians to see a live image of the body's internal organs.  As with X-rays, fluoroscopy carries potential risks for the patient.  This interactive course will walk practitioners through proper fluoroscopy procedures in order to minimize these risks.

Oak Grove intends to use a mix of media—text, animated illustrations, and photos—to describe the fundamental technology of fluoroscopy and demonstrate sound fluoroscopic procedures.  To engage the learner more actively in the course, we will write context-specific scenarios that weave in VA policies with standard practices for reducing radiation risk.
