Fayetteville, NC - Oak Grove Technologies recently sponsored UFC fighter, Josh Koscheck, in “UFC® Fight for the Troops”, a charity event held in Fayetteville, North Carolina at the Crown Coliseum. Soldiers from nearby Fort Bragg and their family members equated to a crowd of over 15,000 in attendance at this unforgettable event. Koscheck defeated fighter Yoshiyuki Yoshida which brings his professional record to 14-3.
UFC’s Fight for the Troops was held to raise money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund to design and build The National Intrepid Center of Excellence. This research facility, to be built in Bethesda, MD, is dedicated to treating veterans and military personnel who suffer from psychological health issues and traumatic brain injuries.
“This is what it’s all about!” exclaimed Mark Gross, President and CEO of Oak Grove Technologies. “We have had so many positive experiences this year doing events with the UFC fighters and U.S. soldiers. Last night’s event was phenomenal! To be a part of bringing that kind of intensity and excitement to the troops fighting for our Nation’s freedom is a feeling I cannot even describe in words. Double that with the fact that over $4 million was raised to support the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, now we are talking about one successful evening! I am honored that Oak Grove could contribute to such an incredible cause.”
Bill White, President of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund was quoted, “We are profoundly grateful to the UFC and Spike TV for their extraordinary support of our nation's Wounded Warriors. Their efforts have moved us that much closer to complete the traumatic brain injury center in Bethesda for the service members that are fighting for our freedom overseas.”
With assistance from the Intrepid Museum Foundation, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund began in 2000 and became established as an independent non-profit organization in 2003. The IFHF is one of the leading supporters of men and women of the Armed Forces and their families, and has raised over $65 million. All monies are made up of donations from the public, and contributions from thousands of generous individuals. All funding goes toward supporting severely wounded military personnel and veterans as well as the families of those who have lost their lives defending the freedom of our country.
